Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip by Scott McEwen EPUB
The coauthor of the #1 New York Times bestseller American Sniper, the critically acclaimed memoir of SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, brings his talents to a riveting novel packed with the action, danger, and camaraderie that are part of daily life for these elite warriors—and introduces a new SEAL hero.
ONE TEAM. ONE SHOT. ONE WAY.
In direct defiance of the president’s orders, Navy Master Chief Gil Shannon, one of America’s most lethal SEAL snipers, launches his own bold mission comprised of SEAL Team Six and Delta Force fighters to free a female helicopter pilot being held and brutally mistreated by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.
The president fears a botched rescue would be a foreign policy disaster—and the end of his term. But once the special ops community learns that one of their own has been taken hostage, there is no executive order strong enough to stop them from going in—whatever the risks.
From Publishers Weekly
McEwen, coauthor of SEAL Chief Chris Kyle's bestselling memoir, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, proves he also can write meaty thrillers with this intense debut. Inspired by actual Black Ops missions and stacked with a large cast of admirable and shady characters, the book opens with the terrifying kidnapping of Warrant Officer Sandra Brux by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan. While captive, she is brutally beaten, raped, videotaped and held for a $25 million ransom. After a series of bungled rescue attempts, it's up to Master Chief Gil Shannon, who boldly defies orders from a confused and panicked U.S. president by leading SEAL Team Six and Delta Force fighters on an insanely dangerous mission to extract Brux from enemy hands. McEwen and Koloniar convincingly capture the friction between soldiers, intelligence officers, and politicians while making timely references to the National Security Agency and women in combat. Snappy dialogue and well-timed humor offset an abundance of acronyms and technical weapons references. The brutal torture scenes and gory combat descriptions require a strong stomach, but for an unfiltered portrayal of modern warfare backed by complex yet compelling storytelling, this one hits the target. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
Review
"Sniper Elite is a gripping, fast paced adventure. Packed with action, it takes the reader into the shadow world of real military operations. A great read - don't miss it!"
(Dan Hampton, New York Times bestselling author of Viper Pilot and The Mercenary)
“Finally a military novel that pays attention to detail, and tells a great story, rarely do the two go together. Sniper Elite gets it right. Lace up your boots tight because you're about to move out, and learn what it's like to be a SEAL sniper."
(Brandon Webb, Former Navy SEAL, Editor of SOFREP.com and the New York Times bestselling a) --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
The irony, that all the hype of Chris Kyle, was a hoax, which is why he dropped from the teams, most of the story was merely lies, and even the government didn't want him to speak about it...
There was not ONE TEAM, ONE SHOT, ONE WAY, there were lots of shots, which makes it easy in the end to reach the target you've missed on several shots, that just shows a bunch of the stupid parts... A real sniper, does take ONE SHOT, and hits, not several shots to achieve the goal!!!
