This video is a compilation of the instrumentals from my album "Becoming".
This album has been a deeply personal journey wherein these songs became my solace in these past years. At times, the "completion" of this work has left me feeling suspended in air; an unexpected result.
One morning, in early March 2024, when I was just in the midst of finalizing the masters of this work, I opened "The Creative Act" by Rick Rubin to page number 343.
After reading this brief chapter, I was changed, and I wrote a letter to my album.
I filled a few pages in my notebook, expressing my gratitude, and also my grief. For our time of creation has come to an end in its own way and this has felt jarring and disturbing.
To my surprise, she wrote me back....
This video is a culmination, and a beginning of many things.
~ may the Divine Spark continue to muse.
"All living things are interconnected, depending on one another to survive. A work of art is no different. It generates excitement in you. This commands your attention. And your attention is exactly what's required for it to grow. It's a harmonic, mutually dependant relationship. The creator and the creation rely on each other to thrive.
The call of the artist is to follow the excitement. Where there's excitement, there's energy. And where there is energy, there is light."
- Rick Rubin
