The University Women’s Club of Kitchener and Waterloo is proud to present SAUERKRAUT AND ENTERPRISE by Edna Staebler, a feature writer for Canada’s leading magazines, and a member of our club. In this little book, Mrs. Staebler, a descendant of Waterloo County pioneers, shows her affection for the Twin Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, and the Old Order Mennonite and Amish people of the K-W area. She offers you her intimate knowledge of local history as well as some mouth-watering recipes and amusing anecdotes.
The articles in the book delighted readers across Canada when they first appeared in MACLEAN’S MAGAZINE. Because there has been a need and a demand for the information contained in them they have been revised, expanded, and published in this permanent form. As a collection they give the special flavour of an unusual and enterprising pocket of Canada as do the illustrations by Jean Forden, also a member of our club.
The K-W University Women’s Club has published this book as its centennial project and for your enjoyment.
