Kops And Custards: The Legend Of Keystone Films by Kalton C. Lahue PDF
For anyone whose movie-going experiences began in the second decade of this century, or earlier, there were highlights among the silents that evoke warm memories. The possibility is great that one of the fondest of those recollections is of Mack Sennett's Keystone Comedies, for these films offered something fresh and spontaneous, unfettered and uninhibited, and they moved across the screen at such a pace which the movies, up until then, had not otherwise achieved. Appearing in the Keystone Comedies were personalities that had a certain spark, ignited by Sennett, not usually in evidence in the more pedantic comedy offering of other comedy producers of the period.
This volume is a history of Mack Sennett and the Keystone Film Company, and the comedy films it produced from 1912 to about 1920.
