This play was first performed at the Mermaid Theatre in London on 31st January 1963. It had great success, transferring to various London theatres, then setting out on tour round the country. It has been made into a film directed by Dick Lester.
The content of the play, which describes the events following the change of Lord Fortnum into a Bedsitting room after the nuclear holocaust, defies description, and the publishers therefore consider it best if you buy a copy and simply read it, but best of all, buy it because if you borrow it you won’t give it back, and you’ll feel guilty and you’ll lose a friend or get fined, so buy it and read it.
