Dealing Justice, Dark River (02) by J. D. Trafford EPUB
An old case will reveal secrets she never imagined.
Amy Wirth is still trying to prove herself to her new colleagues at the FBI. With a reputation of “going rogue,” it doesn’t help that she has her own insecurities, a complicated past, and an ambitious supervisor wary of controversy and eager to shift blame when things go wrong. When her father asks her to investigate one of his own unsolved cases, Amy is reluctant. But how can she say no to his dying request?
Decades earlier a young woman was found on the banks of the Mississippi River. Although tragic, Amy’s initial review of the file suggests no reason why this particular case would haunt her father long into his retirement from the St. Louis Police Department. She pushes forward anyway, and, as the once simple case becomes far more complex, Amy struggles to balance her career at the FBI with her personal search for the truth. An odd woman moves into the carriage house behind her apartment, and everything begins to spiral out of control. Instead of Amy being the investigator, she becomes the target. Her depression and anxiety increase along with vivid dreams. Now, she’s not just afraid of disappointing her father, Amy is afraid for her life and begins to question whether she should be in law enforcement at all.
