DrJubal (EX-):
Fernie [British Columbia] was a small mountain community built partly on hard labour (mining and logging) and partly on outdoor recreation, for it was surrounded by mountains and lakes that offered both winter and summer activities. As I cruised the half-quaint, half-prosaic main street (the practicalities of hardware and work clothes, the play-toys of snowboards and bicycles), I decided the best place to find a postcard which said "Fernie" on it would be the drug store. Sure enough, a few minutes later I was sitting on my motorcycle, parked on its centrestand, writing a postcard to Alex.

Concerned only that the name "Fernie" appear on the card, I hadn't really paid attention to the picture, but before I started writing I noticed the caption at the top: "Ghost Rider." Turning it over, I saw a photograph of a lenticular cloud trailing off the peak of Trinity Mountain. Ghost Rider was apparently the local name for this atmospheric phenomenon.

Now, it must be explained that Alex and I shared a particular mode of writing to each other in "Moronese," and with the pen in my left (wrong) hand I started scrawling, "Eye em thuh gost rydur." Then I stopped, my head jerked back, and I thought, "Whoa, yeah! I am the ghost rider!" The phantoms I carried with me, the way the world and other people's lives seemed insubstantial and unreal, and the way I myself felt alienated, disintegrated, and unengaged with life around me. "Oh yes," I thought, "that's me all right. I am the ghost rider."

- Neil Peart - "Ghost Rider"

Special thanks to Neil Peart for sharing his journey on the healing road.  If you haven't read "Ghost Rider" I strongly encourage you to do so.  Thanks to LeeGeddy for remastering assistance and to Daneck and Cymbaline for help with the artwork and of course, Firmdragon for his excellent recording.  (May 2004)

Cymbaline:
This is a fantastic sounding show. I can't say enough good things about it.  Kudos to the taper for a job well done and also to Madman et al. for the excellent work fine tuning this show.

This is one of those rare shows that you want to keep turning up the volume as the louder it gets the better it sounds.

I prefer an audience recording of this calibre over a soundboard as I like to feel the ambiance and atmosphere of the show and this is no exception. You get the feeling you are there at GM Place with this show.  The band sounded great that night and this recording captures it beautifully. There is a bit of audience chatter throughout but this does not spoil it by any means.

This show goes to 11.

Many thanks to the folks at Madman Productions for releasing this show. It is truly one of the finest recordings of the 2002 Vapor Trails tour and a must have for all collectors.  (MAY 2004)

leegeddy (EX-):

This is a nice recording by Firmdragon from GM Place. I recall that night quite distinctively, for it was the only night that rains fell during *my* Rush tour.
The raw source had many level problems which I did my best to even out.  There are some shifts in the channel volumes throughout the show.
It sounds as if the taper's position changed a bit. Perhaps he was attempting to get away from a loud and madclapping crowd!
Slight high end and low end EQ were added for some crispness and low bass presence, respectively.  Loud handclaps were removed or reduced in many instances.
Otherwise, the recording faithfully captures the sound of the show. (MAY '04)
