The Blackwell group was formed in Houston (Texas, US) in the late 1960s (1968 or early 1969).
It was made up of five young musicians, previously associated with local bands.
The initiators of the band were the duo: vocalist Glenn Gibson and bassist Terry Wilson (Robert Terry
Wilson, born October 4, 1949 in Warren, Arkansas, grew up in the suburbs of Houston in
Deer Park, later a well-known and respected musician, composer, producer with an international fame), and former members of local group The Sundown Collection - drummer Randy "Turtle" DeHart and
guitarist Jimmy Don Smith. The last link was keyboard player Johnny Bundrick (later, better known
as John "Rabbit" Bundrick, b. November 21, 1948 in Houston, from the moment of establishing cooperation with Chris
Blackwell - the head of Island Records - his career gained a dizzying pace, and he became a star of
the first magnitude).
The band, during its short history (about two years) left behind a few singles (probably
four) and one album. All tracks were recorded at Jones Sound Recording Studios in Houston
(Jones Sound - Paul Butts Productions) and released in 1969-1970 on the Astro Records label.
