The history of the famous British group resembles the flight of a rocket. Starting in May 1963 with the single (Aint't That) Just Like Me, the band was steadily moving towards fame. Their names often overlapped with the Beatles in terms of popularity. The CLARKE-HICKS-NASH creative team composed amazing catchy hit songs (in the early stages under the collective pseudonym L. Ransford) in the best traditions of beat-rock. Having reached its peak in the late 60s and early 70s, creativity began to decline and the Hollies rocket began to decline. In July 1983, the band recorded their last 21st numbered album and moved into the ranks of living legends, experimenting with line-up changes and throwing rare singles on the market. The collection dedicated to the band's 40th anniversary is aimed primarily at collectors. After an inconceivable number of compilations and re-releases, it is difficult for an ordinary listener to get through with compositions heard many times ... but that's the beauty of such releases - publishers always dig up something new, especially in such a rich heritage! Out of 136 tracks, of interest, first of all, is a recording of rare concert performances in Stockholm (1966) and England (1968), 6 previously unreleased recordings, as well as versions from Italian and German magpies, the new single How Do I Survive with the voice of Carl Wayne (recently deceased). The booklet consists of 58 pages and in addition to the history of the ensemble, the list of tracks, numerous photos of the members and the full discography, it contains a very useful chart - The Hollies Roots.
