I Disagree with you about HDR being better than SDR bro, According to me HDR version looks pale and dull compared to SDR and in dark scenes nothing is visible other than shadows while SDR version has details and clarity in dark scenes! I'm using iMac which I know is HDR capable and I play it on VLC. |
your backlight and contrast are too high giving any shadow effects too much over the actual use of those two functions, to clear, sharpen and allow a darker backlight to have the film stand out better, works great on my 55inch 4K UHD HDR Enabled TV through HDMI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU not onboard and is perfect |
and I use Ghost Sceptre build for my Win 11 and im not a gamer just a great speed and video wanting PC /Laptop user. And he strips all the junk out giving about 40 percent less use of your GPU and almost 60 percent less of GPU with zero loss in quality. over 1B downloads per version update and not one complaint. |
Why is HDR 25gb file and SDR only 12? Is the video quality bad of SDR compared with HDR? |
dont you know SDR is bad in comparision with HDR quality. its like comparing HD with fullhd |
HDR has added size because HDR required more data. SDR has no HDR data so it's a smaller file size. For those of us that don't have HDR displays but are capable of playing 4k, SDR files are preferable because HDR looks like crap on non HDR displays. I only have a 1080p display, a projector, but i prefer the higher res |
U dont need sdr for a sdr display, u can use the hdr version, just use a player that has hdr sdr tone mapping like vlc or mpv net. It will play hdr just as it was sdr. |
I have an HDR display, but it's a headache to display HDR rips on my PC for some reason. I blame Winblows. Honestly, I don't really see what the fuss is all about with HDR. It's not THAT big of a difference, if you ask me. |
@extrapower99 , that's the issue. I don't want to watch it on another player. I use MPC-HC and it won't tone map HDR and it looks like garbage. I don't want to install and configure another player. I have quite a few settings on MPC-HC I use and like and I've been using it for many years now. |
"dont you know SDR is bad in comparision with HDR quality. its like comparing HD with fullhd" Yes I get that, but usually the size diference between HDR and SDR is not that big. |
None of you guys are correct. The file size difference is almost certainly down to the media coming from a different source. Since it's a WEB-DL, the quality will be more than sufficient. If you don't have a HDR display, DO NOT download the HDR version, the SDR tone mapping is always inferior to official SDR releases. |
HDR definitely works with MPC-HC. You just have to use madVR or MPC Video Renderer. Also, get the latest MPC-HC from github/clsid2. |
For a good HDR experiance you need a propper display! For instance my old 42 UHD LED Samsung tv is shit for HDR, it needed much more brightnes. My new 55 inch neo qled that is top of Samsung TVs has 1500 nits brightness and awesome contrast. HDR is completely different and much better. Before I was forced to watch only SDR movies, since i got the new TV all i download is HDR. So my recomendation would be to buy a better TV. |
