The band was put together by guitarist Jimmie Vaughan(brother of Stevie Ray)and singer/harmonica player Kim Wilson.This debut album from 1979 followed four years solid gigging as the house band for Antone's nightclub in Austin,Texas backing Muddy Waters,Buddy Guy,BB King and Albert King.Originally released on manager/producer Denny Bruce's Takoma label and recorded at Sumet-Bernet Sound Studios in Dallas,it comprised six originals and five covers.Cub Koda described it in the original AllMusic Guide to Rock as One of the few white blues albums that works.Although it received minimal promotion back in its day,but would later be acknowledged as a classic.Highlights include a cover of Li'l Millet and the Creoles Rich Woman(since cut by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss)and She's Tuff,released as a single and performed on BBC TV's Old Grey Whistle Test.10 Bonus tracks include studio out-takes and live tracks from an Austin club gig in the late Seventies and the band's first UK tour in 1980.
