Che Guevara's iconic image is one of the most reproduced pictures in the world! Even today, his portrait symbolizes revolution across the world. This film uncovers how the guerilla fighter came to become one of the most well-known faces on earth and also scrutinizes whether he truly lived up to his image in his real life.
He was the iconic South American revolutionary. An Argentine physician, author, diplomat, and military theorist, he played a major role in Castro's Cuban revolution and influenced generations of young people throughout the continent. 50 years after his death, embark on a journey to deconstruct the heroic guerillero's myth. With on-camera testimonies, previously unseen documents and little known archive footage, this is the story of a man trapped by his own legend.
From his hagiographies to his caricatures, Che was the main author behind his own legend. Cinema-lover, writer, photographer, he continually staged his life to build the myth that would survive him.
Casting a spotlight on his family, his work or his fights, he became one of the leading figures of Revolution across the globe. He even exposed his own darker side himself. From battle dress to shaggy beard and Cuban cigar on his lips, he forged the image of the noble if grimy guerillero. He seized his own image of a firebrand ready to plunge the world in fire.
