(2018) Donato Dozzy - Filo Loves the Acid
Review:
With Filo Loves the Acid, Donato Dozzy brings us another hard-hitting set of tracks filled with the deep and acid-washed sound one has come to expect. Composed largely on the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer and dedicated to his “lifelong friend Filo,” Filo Loves the Acid focuses on the deeper and more rhythmic aspects of the genre, creating songs that propel themselves forward with tremendous momentum, embracing deep considered bass textures while still being infinitely danceable. One such highlight is “TB Square,” a track centred around an infectious bass loop that glides around, anchored with heavy percussion to keep form intact. The tones, textures and melodies Dozzy features on the album explode with power, despite not reinventing the genre, which in itself is not a bad thing. The tracks contained on Filo Loves the Acid are altogether enjoyable rhythmic excursions for fans of both Dozzy and acid techno alike to listen and dance along to. —
