It was a pretty good series to watch just too bad it was only 1 season wasn't renewed. These tv executive just cancel shows all the time cause of bad ratings but the focus should be on the bad or poor written story line or plot by writers of these shows. |
That's too bad. I had been looking forward to this series; it has some serious star power and I dig me any kind of steampunk setting. It'll be harder to watch knowing that it's already been cancelled. |
The show was doomed from the moment they tried to remove Joss Whedon's involvement. |
Strong, independent women who save the day....yeah right....it's time they realise that them being able to be themselves is BECAUSE of the cosy world men creat(ed) and maintain! Be grateful! |
The show wasn't cancelled for any of the usual reasons. The primary reason for it getting the axe was because of the HBO merger with Discovery. The new CEO went on a killing spree and, as usual, the paying customer suffers for these sweeping, arbitrary "cost-cutting" measures. The fact that Joss Whedon's name quickly became mud just as the show was being released certainly contributed to it getting the executive thumbs down. They scrambled to remove his name (once a big selling point) from the product entirely, but if you watch those "Behind the Scenes" featurettes that played after each episode, you can still see the back of his bald head in a frame or two. (Of course, all of the "showrunner" interviews were re-done with Jane Espenson instead. Though, since Jane got her start with Whedon and owes much of her success to him and his "Whedonverse" projects, I can't really say that managed to "scrub" the show enough to settle my stomach completely.) These were the real factors that killed The Nevers. Any difficulties with middling ratings or some episodes being "hard to follow" were just extra splashes of fuel on the already-raging fire. Honestly, I liked the show, but a great deal of the material was eerily similar to the old "Wild Cards" book series, which is still (forever?) fighting to escape Development Hell and see the light of day. Though I admit, I do like how The Nevers *mostly* kept a lid on any capes-and-tights outlandishness. |
I quite like capes & tights... but don't tell my wife |
Thank you for this!!!! I agree that the quality of episodes 7-12 are pretty bad but I'm guessing that's due to Tubi's compression. Overall watchable if a little annoying. |
What the hell was that? Did anybody watch this yet? What a disappointment. Without spoilers, a total incoherent, convoluted second half. I suspect the reason for this, was probably the showrunners being notified no second season and the second half of the season, was either primarily shot or completed with a completely different ending. The studio I suspect, wasn't going to waste anymore money to bring back the entire crew to reshoot a wrap up, having to pay them extra for a dead project. I mean did anyone who initially watched the 1st half 2 years ago catch that? It appeared that they just called in a film editor who spliced an ending together. HBO was totally unprofessional in the handling of this project, allowing it to be released like that. I don't suspect the Amazon cancelled fantasy Carnival Row, will make the same mistake. |

Really? The focus should be on how well a product is made, not on the sales figures? That demands a different kind of economy, sir. |
Hi - wasn't on HBO max - shown on TUBI which has ads and the WB TV Watchlist icon onscreen. Cheers |
Tubi?! Dear Gods! When did it get demoted to Tubi? |
I get it was a rush job due to popularity, but this is quite bad. E07: a lot of speed inconsistencies, includes commercials from 54:33->56:36 |
Commercials? That makes No sense. HBOMax doesn't have commercial breaks during a show. |
Apparently, E07-E12 come from Tubi, which explains the watermark and ads. |
He's right there's Genesis (Hyundai Premium) car, TaxAct commercials and more .... |
I can't believe I missed the remainder of this season after it stopped airing! What an unjust cancellation. Thanks for the upload! |
This sucks - GalaxyTV doesn't have any subtitles even though the description says English subtitles are included. :( |
Episode 7 was not even complete you can tell easy try to encode to AVI and it's a jumbled mess EP7 fixed please is all i want the rest are acceptable even with a couple ads in w2 EPs is all I saw. |
