ps. sod it, let's name them - Vanessa Redgrave and Mick Jagger.
.
The big toe on my right foot has continued to suffer over the following decades.
.
After a free concert in Hyde Park (not the BIG one) Keith Richards ran over it in his Jensen Interceptor. Luckily his wide tyres spread the weight and it didn't break the skin - even though I was, once again, wearing sandals:_B)
.
When moving into this flat my mate Dave clumsily let go of the washing machine. The only thing that stopped it careering down the stairs was, you guessed it, the big toe on my right foot. More blood:_:-(

What memories!
.
It takes me back to the first anti-Vietnam war march in London. We reached Oxford Street with actors, politicians and musicians at the front of the march (I won't embarrass them by naming them). By the time that we reached North Audley Street they had all buggered off to the Selfridge Hotel for afternoon tea.
.
We believers made a left and headed for Grosvenor Square. There were cops on the left; there were cops on the right. We got into the Square in front of the U.S. Embassy and there were mounted cops. If one looked up at the eagle on the front of the building one could see military persons with rifles on the roof. This was going to be a fun day.
.
We didn't start a riot. But we did resist the cops trying to push us our of the Square - they made a futile effort as they were vastly outnumbered. But then the mounties started using their poor horses to move us.
.
Now, a bloke wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt (thanks mum), loon pants and sandals should really keep away from horses. A hoof went down on my right foot - ouch. My pal, Steve Mann, had his guitar knocked out of his hands - that too was crushed by a horses hoof, but at least it didn't draw blood!
.
At this point we felt that WE had made our point so Steve and I beat a hasty retreat to the Wimpy Bar on Oxford Street. A successful day:_B)
.
The following year's march was much the same but this time I wore steel toe-capped boots (from a charity shop) and we left our musical instruments at home:_:D
.
Those were the days. That was the Eve Of Destruction.
.
