In fact, "Philwit & Pegasus" is not a group, but a studio project by Mark Wirtz in collaboration with the poetess Maria Feltham. When the disc was first released (lp, 1970), only Philwit & Pegasus appeared on the cover.
The concept of the album is that 13 songs are a kind of illustrative material for a certain movie. Needless to say, no movie was shot in the Philwit & Pegasus project, later singles and demos were added.
Mark Wirtz explains the origin of the name "Philwit & Pegasus" as follows: "Philwit - consists of the first syllables of my middle name "Philipp" and the surname "Wirtz", Pegasus is the nickname of Maria Faltham." The result is a pop art psychedelic epic.
