Each theater was full of Greeks, Italians, and SKIPS yes another racial term aimed at white Australians but they didn't care.  | Loved it, as someone who grew up in a country town surrounded by people from 5-10 countries I never knew that my life and theirs were any different, only the food. Years later I found out why I was treated so badly at high School. I was a "Houso" one step up the social rung from the Aboriginal kids who I went school with and who were my neighbours, even other kids like me looked down on me. Yes there were names for most of the nationalities but who cared, a cricket bat was a great equaliser to use on the snobby rich kids who wanted to belittle us. Housos, Fat Pizza, Swift & Shift, Wogs Out of Work were more realistic for some of us than the other TV shows full of happy smiling faces like The Sullivans etc. I'm of Welsh/Cornish, Anglo Saxon descent and Australian. |

| I've never heard of it being used to describe white Australians, must be a regional thing. However skips comes from the popular 70's childrens TV show Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. An Australian version of Lassie. I just refer to kangaroo based meals as skips on a plate. |
