This course is based on the popular Construction Game Starter Kit Collection -- available as a separate bundled set. You'll also get bonus download examples, source code, abridged references on how to do every single thing in this course, so you can mimic these lessons into your own game design and then modify your game resources for your own purposes. Later in this tutorial, you’ll discover that the raw javascript code is very similar to that provided for either version of Construct.
I will guide you in creating several "Game Mechanisms" that typically appear in all online games. You can combine these game mechanisms to support your chosen game mechanics. By the end of this tutorial workshop, you should have a fully functional game using your own gaming artwork and assets. More importantly, a collection of code "snippets" to use in further game production. There is a supporting website where you can download the bonus content included with your course purchase.
This book is a “workshop guide” to Construct, and an intermediate level guide to HTML5, CSS, WebSockets, and efficient javascript programming fundamentals, and game design’s “best practices”. (see Appendix: “JS OLOO for Modern Game Development Method”) I assume you (the reader) already know some of these technologies.
All the source code is provided as Construct project files and “pure” javascript (JS) — it doesn’t use any additional “abstraction layers” such as “TypeScript”, “CoffeeScript”, or “JQuery” for obvious reasons.
This extraordinarily comprehensive course will teach you how to:
Use both Construct versions 2 and 3.
Generate games automatically from a collection of game prototypes (snippets).
