For a sequel out of nowhere it is not bad, they namedrop some old stuff but the connection to the old show is weak at best. The pilot episode isn't special but there are few shows that start out with a first episode that blows everyone away. And certainly when you need to reconnect to some other content that was out earlier. |
Watched it and it was pretty slow/boring. I'm gonna give this series a pass. Thanks for the upload though. |
Two minutes in and I stopped watching. It's way to woke for my blood. |
Inter-racial couple, check. Some androgynous tranny looking thing, check. this was within the first 5 minutes of ep 1. Too woke for this old man. |
/heavy sigh they offer it as a sequel (25 years later) yet, the leave out some vital components of the original, make up your mind, sequel or reboot? one large inconsistency would be 'the waiting room' where the consciousness of the leapee would reside while the leaper was in his body. the prequel often used that persons information to find more backstory to help solve the mission but, if they kept it it would change the plot of this ep, discovering the leapee's occupation from the start plus, why did no one check his phone (left in the lab once he dressed into the spandex) for the ID and number of the other party and how, since he left the original scene to go to the lab and junp, did they all get to the lab and search for hours and arrive as a hologram within minutes of his arrival in the leapee plus, the filter they used to make everything look 1985, was not used on the characters in the car, so the green screen driving looked as bad as it did in the 80's and yes , i am guessing the security chick will like girls, so the diversity quota is well covered |
Sounds like you didn't even take a breath with that review. I think my grade 6 reading and lit class would have said, you are missing one punctuation mark; the period, in several places. LOL. But thanks for the comment, you have some good points. Thanks. |
I would just like to say It was enjoyable and not much has changed except the cast and the back and forth from pass to present which didnt happen much in the old show. 8/10 |
It is only a matter of time before they try to reboot The Fall Guy and finally commit an unforgivable sin. |
I loved the original show when I was younger, though even that had its ups and downs. I'll give this a shot, i never base a tv show off of its pilot or first few episodes, lots of shows have to fimd their feet and get into the groove. |
The episode was decent enough for a pilot, I would like to see if the show can bring anything new to the old formula though. |
Soon as I saw Mason Alexander Park was in it, I knew someone would be all up in arms over it and they'd use the word "woke" in their post. Oh, no! A man wearing makeup! The world is crumbling! Y'all are just desperate to tank any show that reminds you society is changing (as always) and you lack the capacity for personal self-examination and growth to deal with it. The show may suck. It may not. But, anyone attempting to sway hearts and minds because of the pilot episode has one of those agendas like they're always ascribing to Hollywood. Broadcast TV pilots are always unsteady on their feet, like a newborn foal, and this goes double if it's science fiction. If the internet, FOX News, and people who can't define the word "woke" but use it pejoratively all the time anyway had all existed back when Star Trek: The Next Generation aired it's first episode, that show never would've made it past season one. Go back and watch some of s01, if you can. For a pilot show that has to be innovative while carrying certain fan expectations, it's watchable. It's almost impossible for a broadcast network to pull that off with something that's worthy of an Emmy. Give it at least the first season. Better yet, give it a second season before weighing in on it. [Can we please disable comments now? They don't serve the torrents or the uploaders who provide them. The star ratings and recommendation options should be sufficient. Or at least give uploaders the option to turn off guest commenting/voting on their torrents.] |
Lot more words indeed - but I agree wholeheartedly and life is not a tweet ;) Thanks for all your ups TGx team! |
So having actually watched it now, I can say that it was indeed watchable and quite entertaining. It wasn't as fresh as the original but then it's a reboot so that's to be expected. I hadn't realised that Al (Dean Stockwell) had died until the mention at the end of the show and in the end credits. It would be interesting to see if they manage to bring Sam back in one episode (with the original actor, Scott Bakula) to at least give fans of the original show some closure. As others have already mentioned, it's only the pilot so it will take time to get to know the characters and get used to the series. |
Sure seems like they are hell bent on ruining everything... This was more about trying to normalize mental illness and degeneracy than making a sequel to a once good show. |
Thank you TGxTV Great A/V as ever, but the show left me pretty cold I'm afraid. It borrowed the main elements of the story obviously, and acting was decidedly middling, so, was it thrilling and full of spectacular effects? Nope, not really. Characters are all "OK" and everything else was "OK", but nothing stood out and said, "This is interesting, download the next episode." Thanks for your efforts TGxTV but this one wasn't for me. |
