E01 Fain Would I Climb
First transmitted in 1985, this series follows the progress of 25 prospective members of the Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre (MAWC), a specialist unit of the Royal Marines. We follow their training as they experience the extreme environments that they will face in combat.
E02 Red in Tooth and Claw
This programme follows the candidates as they learn to live off the land on a remote Hebridean Isle with little more than a knife, a Billy Can and their initiative to help them survive.
E03 Faint, Yet Pursuing
This programme follows the candidates as they are left to live off the land. They find that they can survive the cold and wet but the effects of hunger quickly takes its toll. Meanwhile, the course instructors are ever vigilant for signs of them breaking the rules. If the they do break the rules and they manage get away with it their chances of survival increase but if they are caught they are expelled from the course.
E04 Now You Don't
This episode looks at the art of escape and evasion.
E05 Brother To Dragons, Companion to Owls
In this episode the trainees in the Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre learn 'direct action' - breaking into a fort and planting high-explosive charges on a radio mast; they also get their first taste of Arctic conditions in Norway.
E06 The Ice is All Around
This episode follows the final stage of training - survival in Arctic conditions.
E07 The End is Where We Start From
In this episode, after a 200 mile ski-yomp in the snow, the trainees complete their recruitment course and discover whether they have passed.
