 | . David "Lord" Sutch was the most flamboyant British politicians who never one an election. He contested approximately 40 political elections. . He was also one of the finest rock 'n' rollers in the UK with his backing band The Savages (Ritchie Blackmore was once a member). For some time his shows would start with him climbing out of a black coffin at the centre of the stage. On one occasion, unfortunately, he got stuck inside it  His most famous release is probably "Jack The Ripper". In 1983, after many active years in politics, Mr Sutch founded the Official Monster Raving Loony Party. For a minor candidate he managed to get a lot of "face time" on television during elections. Maybe it was his "fancy dress" and top hat that the TV people liked. . Back in 1963, when the BBC Radio didn't like playing"popular" music, Mr Sutch took over a WWII fort in the Thames Estuary and set up a pirate radio station named Radio Sutch - of course. . He died in 1999 and is much missed by fans of his music but not by the politicians  . |
