A worthy example of British pop psychedelia is the one-album band The Fox from Brighton (East Sussex). Formed in 1968 when veterans of several local bands banded together. Vocalist/keyboardist Alex Lane, drummer Tim Reeves and Nick Apostiledes played in the Alex Lane Group, Reeves and bass player Dave Windross also played together in the Omega Plus band. Songwriter/guitarist Steve Brayne, who had known Lane and the Reeves since elementary school, completed the line-up, although Apostiledes was soon replaced by guitarist Winston Weatherill (formerly of Gary Farr & The T-Bones). The band made test recordings in a 12-hour session at Radio Luxembourg Studios, and did so well that almost all of the recordings were included in the album (only 2 tracks had to be re-recorded). However, managerial interest in the group cooled down, and soon the team broke up.
