Nel 1988 il settantenne Percy Schmeiser, agricoltore di una piccola cittadina, scende in guerra contro una multinazionale quando nelle sue colture viene rinvenuta della colza geneticamente modificata, messa in commercio dalla grossa società. Sfidando le pratiche dell'azienda, si renderà conto di rappresentare migliaia di altri contadini nella sua stessa condizione, diventando un eroe della disperata battaglia in difesa die diritti degli agricoltori.
