Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company's exodus left the city a wasteland with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever changed and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City, il film diretto da Johannes Roberts, è il reboot dedicato a Resident Evil, la famosa serie di videogiochi creata da Capcom nel 1996. Il film è ambientato nel 1998 a Raccoon City, un tempo sede della Umbrella Corporation e, dopo il fallimento della compagnia, destinata a essere una morente cittadina del Midwest. In questa città abbandonata vi è la Spencer Mansion, la residenza in cui operava il colosso farmaceutico ed è proprio qui che il male ha fatto il suo nido.
Lo scopriranno a loro spese un gruppo di sopravvissuti, cresciuti in questi luoghi, e di persone appena arrivate in città, che si radunano in una notte fatale per introdursi nella residenza. Non sono pronti a quello che troveranno al suo interno e negli scantinati, dove il male è pronto a scatenarsi e mettere a repentaglio le vite di chi si addentra tra quelle mura. Riuscirà il gruppo a scoprire la verità che si cela dietro l'Umbrella Corporation e soprattutto a restare in vita?
