Osvaldo Pedro Pugliese (Buenos Aires, December 2, 1905 - July 25, 1995) was an Argentine pianist, conductor and composer dedicated to tango.

He was born on December 2, 1905 in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Crespo, into a family of musicians, although not as talented as him.

He studied with great teachers such as Vicente Scaramuzza and Pedro Rubione, with whom he became an extraordinary pianist.

At the age of fifteen he was already a member of a trio with the bandoneonist Domingo Faillac and the violinist Alfredo Ferrito, with whom he debuted before the public in a neighborhood bar (in Argentina generically called: cafés) called "Café de la Chancha", a name given to him by the parishioners in allusion to the poor hygiene of its owner and the place.

But he was not just a great pianist, he was also a citizen committed to society. In 1935 he promoted the Argentine Union of Musicians of which he was affiliate number 5. He then began a struggle "... where work is a personal dignity and not a punishment", Pugliese reflected his communist ideas in the organization of his orchestra . In 1936 he joined the young Argentine Communist Party (108 was his membership number)

The Malabia station of the Buenos Aires subway line B was renamed Malabia-Osvaldo Pugliese as of 2011, after a several-year campaign in which thousands of residents of their native Villa Crespo and admirers everywhere signed a petition to it.

In the Sunday Edition of the Daily Pagina 12 of Bs. As, four volumes that appeared Sunday to Sunday under the title "What is missing that you do" cover the period 1960-1970, a time in which the legendary director was transforming his style. decarean.

The 4 albums include 24 instrumentals and many fundamental tangos.
