This reminds me of the Bob Peck drama 'Edge of Darkness', but his may be even better. |
In reply to kentk9 if you claim to be an English teacher that can't under the Scottish dialect then may I suggest you keep your comments to yourself as you have just embarrassed yourself in front of the Scottish nation. |
@ Guest-3584 So sorry m8. My comment was meant to be helpful, not insulting. Just do me a solid and don't send Braveheart after me. PS: And for the record, I love everything about Scotland, including but not limited to the following 8 items: Bagpipes, highland dancing, tartans, Hogmanay, Kilts, Scotch Tape and most of all, Orkney Dark Island Reserve and Johnnie Walker. 🥂 The people are fun-loving and friendly too, no doubt about that. I spent a memorable New Year's Eve (in 2003) on Red Square in Moscow with a lovely young couple from Scotland whom I met in a bar across the street. They had a bottle of Vodka in their coat pocket which they managed to smuggle past the security checkpoint, and we rang in the New Year together, passing around that bottle of partially frozen Vodka, shivering our tails off (it was -28C) and dodging rogue firecrackers, which were going off in all directions, while standing just a few meters from Lenin's Tomb on freshly fallen snow. We've remained good friends and E-pals ever since. |
Why oh, why do the BBC put all the crap series straight onto the iplayer? But the ones you want to binge-watch like this is spread out week-by-week. After watching two episodes of this, and being gripped, we are mighty peeved off at this outrageous treatment at the hands of the BBC. Does anyone 'one board' geddit? have a contact for the BBC Complaints department. This is just sooo annoying. |
NOT A PLOT SPOILER It MUST be the case that the guys who were on the trawler that sunk didn't really drown and they have come 'back from the dead' to pick off those that they feel responsible. But how would they get on the ship? Sorry, boat aka submarine Or maybe someone related to them? But then there appears to be something going on on the submarine at the same time that the girl from the peace camp was apparently killed. How intriguing. Anyway, hope this wraps up better than say, Line of Duty. Two episodes in and definitely 'hooked' (geddit?) Definitely worth watching. Just download the subtitles if you struggle with the Scotch accent, plenty of English cast including the lead who are easier to understand. |
Howdy! This looks like a promising new U.K. thriller. Good story with plenty of suspense, political intrigue - and a nuclear cliffhanger for an ending. One tip: Although they speak English, much of it is of the Scottish accent variety, which can be challenging. And I say that as a native English speaker and a teacher of English for the past 32 years. And unfortunately, there are no subtitles included, but I picked up an awesome tip from Guest-1359 on The Protege comment thread that I'd like to pass along. If you use VLC Player, go to the tool bar at the top, open View and then select VLsub and then select Research. VLC will then automatically search for and download English subtitles - fast and hassle free. According to the end credits, which begin at 58 minutes, episode 2 will be out tomorrow. A/V is excellent. I'm gonna watch this one. Thanks, TGxTV. 🥂 And thanks to Guest-1359 for the VLC tip. |
Howdy Guest-1392 I actually prefer Red Label, but if you're buying Blue, I wouldn't let you drink it all by yourself. |
Thanks Galaxy Have to agree with Guest-3416 about VLC Sub it's not that great-and this is not that difficult to understand everyone and @kentk9 i hope your talking Johnnie Walker Blue label.. |
Thx uploader. A/V 10/10 My review 10/10 As a massive fan of Line of Duty it was no surprise i was gonna watch this, and boy oh boy it doesnt dissapoint. Im not a huge fan of british dramas but holy moly this show has changed my mind. This is for anyone who loves a good plot with twists and turns galore with a massive 'who dunnit'. |
@Guest-3584: I don't think it's up to you to decide who has to be embarrassed ! 😳 I don't understand every accents and every dialects of my native language as many. And I'm not embarrassed. Kentk9 didn't say he can't but 'it can but challenging'. He's just sharing and giving a tips. Could be helpful for others. Your problem if you don't care. |
It is very similar to "Rig 45", which I had to abandon because it bored me. 🤷 |
As English not being my first language, I always add subtitles if not included. Just want to improve my english. 🤓 I haven't been very lucky with VLC sub so for but I usually use subtitlecat.com web site to download/translate/share subs of any language. ðŸ‘😉 |
Thank you, TGxTV ! This series just might be a good one. Also, sure appreciate the "heads up" on the subtitles for the VLC media player ! Thank you too, kentk9 ! Cheers. |
