The crumbling country pile of Button Hall is home to numerous restless spirits who have died there over the centuries - each ghost very much a product of their time, resigned to squabbling with each other for eternity over the most inane of daily gripes. But their lives - or, rather, afterlives - are thrown into turmoil when a young urban couple - Alison and Mike - surprisingly inherit the peaceful derelict house and make plans to turn it into a bustling family hotel. As the ghosts attempt to oust the newcomers from their home, and Mike and Alison discover the true scale of the project they've taken on, fate conspires to trap both sides in an impossible house share, where every day is, literally, a matter of life and death.

E01 The Bone Plot
When a historical documentary team comes to film at Button House, Alison and the ghosts are shocked to discover that the assassination plot they are investigating involved one of their own.
Meanwhile, Mike - always on the lookout for free publicity - begs Alison to accept the offer of a television interview about the old house. The only hitch is that Alison is terrified of speaking on camera. Luckily, Thomas is there to coach her in the art of speechmaking. What could possibly go wrong?
E02 A Lot to Take In
A mysterious visitor arrives at Button House with a revelation that leaves Alison reeling. Thomas is equally confused by his feelings for this strange visitor, while Lady Button and Julian warn of sinister motives, and Kitty is as territorial as ever over her surrogate sister Alison.
Mike has an epiphany on his first day at a new job, which triggers Julian to remember his first day as a ghost. But will their insights be enough to help Alison make sense of the overwhelming news she has received?
E03 The Woodworm Men
While Button House is being fumigated for woodworm, Alison and Mike decide to save some money and camp in the grounds, sending the ghosts’ routines off kilter.
E04 I Love Lucy
Alison has invited Lucy to come to Button House for a sleepover, but after a concerning meeting with the solicitor, Alison must work out if Lucy is really who she says she is.
E05 Something To Share?
When the ghosts try to sabotage Alison’s makeshift therapy session for Kitty, they unwittingly face their own demons. And Mike’s desire to see the ghosts yields surprising results
E06 Part of the Family
While Alison and Mike gear up to make a big investment, the Captain and Kitty work together with the other ghosts to solve an unfolding mystery before it’s too late.
