Our Summer 2021 volume contains what proved to be a passion project for every member of our content team. Edited by Executive Editor Amy Lockheart, “Game On” is a 26-page special section featuring inspo and advice from five women sports photographers. From professional leagues to little leagues, these women behind the lens, along with thousands of their talented, trailblazing peers, are changing how sports are portrayed, as well as making a difference in the representation of female athletes to the world.

“When I see young girls in the autograph line holding up a picture that I took to get signed, that’s it for me, I’ve done my job,” says professional photographer and this issue’s cover artist, Jade Hewitt. “If those young girls look at these athletes and say, ‘That’s what I want to do,’ or ‘I want to be like her,’ then I know I’m making an impact. It’s the greatest feeling in the world.”
