1973. After to leave standing in the altar to her boyfriend Massimiliano in Rome, MarÃa is a Spanish woman who decides start again taking a flight to return Spain. Orphan, without family, money and resources, at her arrival to the Airport of Barajas of the City of Madrid (Madrid, center to Spain and country's capital) MarÃa meets Amparo, a funny, loudmouth, full of life and free-spirited woman who works as airport stewardess. Three months later MarÃa lives with Amparo working as another stewardess in Barajas, when she meets again Pablo, the man with who she stumbled at her arrival, which is looking for a lost suitcase. Ballo Ballo, film diretto da Nacho Ãlvarez, è ambientato in Spagna durante gli anni Settanta, periodo storico molto difficile per costumi e cultura, spesso attaccati dalla censura del regime franchista. Racconta la storia di Maria (Ingrid GarcÃa Jonsson), una ragazza spagnola che, dopo aver lasciato il suo fidanzato sull'altare a Roma, decide di tornare nella sua terra natìa. Giunta a Madrid, la giovane, grande amante del ballo, si mette alla ricerca di un'aspirazione, di qualcosa che la faccia sentire realizzata. Dopo l'incontro con Amparo (Verónica Echegui), uno spirito libero che lavora come hostess, Maria va a vivere insieme a lei e inizia a lavorare come hostess di terra.
Poco tempo dopo, grazie a un colpo di fortuna, la ragazza riesce a coronare uno dei suoi sogni ed entra nel corpo di ballo di un noto programma televisivo, "Las noches de Rosa". Durante lo spettacolo conosce e si innamora perdutamente di Pablo (Fernando Guallar), il figlio del censore della rete televisiva, Celedonio (Pedro Casablanc), un uomo anziano, franchista e contrario a qualsiasi cambiamento. Maria non è molo d'accordo con la politica della censura attuata da Celedonio e teme che Pablo segua le idee paterne.
