Jools' Annual Hootenanny 2020-21 (1280x720p HD, 50fps, soft Eng subs)
After a thoroughly eventful year, Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra reunite to joyfully welcome in a new year with his annual Hootenanny. As we wave goodbye to 2020 and look forward to the next, Jools invites another spectacular cast of guest artists to help put on the best party in town, whilst also taking the time to reflect on the years gone by with some of the best performances in the illustrious Hootenanny archive. / / Joining Jools and his orchestra in the studio this year are Celeste, Sir Tom Jones, Michael Kiwanuka, Roisin Murphy, Rick Wakeman, Ruby Turner, Chris Difford, and the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Batallion Scots Guards. Jools also takes a look back at some of the incredible Hootenanny performances from the archive, including the likes of Jamiroquai, Rudimental and Ella Eyre, Madness, ABC and Aloe Blacc, promising a musical celebration with a nostalgic nod to the past, a warm welcome to the year ahead and plenty of bangers! / / With Jools in the studio is man of the year and winner of the 2020 Mercury Prize Michael Kiwanuka, who performs a song from his prizewinning album and takes on a song written by his idol Bill Withers. BBC's Sound of 2020 Celeste serenades us with her infectious, soulful vocals on a number or two. The legendary Sir Tom Jones returns to the show with his inimitable baritone voice and a good dose of 1950s rock 'n' roll. Irish singer-songwriter and formerly one half of Moloko, Roisin Murphy, makes a return after her performance on the Millennium Hootenanny two decades ago. Songwriter, producer and keyboard player Rick Wakeman joins Jools for a piano duet to serve up a good dose of boogie-woogie, and Queen of the Hootenanny Ruby Turner raises the roof. Of course it wouldn't be a Hootenanny without the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Batallion Scots Guards and their annual tradition to pipe in the midnight hour. Also joining Jools to see in the new year is Squeeze's very own Chris Difford, who treats us to a classic of theirs. Sadly, Rag'n'Bone Man is no longer performing on the Hootenanny this year.
