avatarHmm, if the encoder truly makes no difference perhaps it is the ripping software itself. I use cdparanoia which does a lot of on the fly error correction. Perhaps this may throw the data off a bit in ways AccurateRip doesn't like. If the pure ripped data is truly the only thing taken into consideration, that's the only thing I can think of considering the drive is a brand new Panasonic (and has zero issues ripping entire movies off Blurays, where you would certainly notice file corruption - a corrupted BR rip would not encode or even remux without throwing up errors) and the CD itself was brand new with the plastic still on.

A log file would surely just show the CD ripped and was encoded successfully. I can provide that really rather easily since I use a command line tool (abcde, which effectively just automates cdparanoia and libFLAC) for ripping CD's so I can just copy/paste the terminal output or automate writing it to a text file. But then you could just come along and say my log file must be wrong or I must have edited it because Cue Tools says something different. So what would actually be the point? People who care more about what some Windows tool says rather than what their ears perceive would just doubt the validity of any given log file as well.

The comparison to MP3's is pretty silly isn't it? You can quite audibly hear that these tracks are losslessly compressed. If a byte is out of place somewhere it hasn't affected the quality of the audio. It is quite literally a meaningless technicality. As you said yourself: "you have no real idea what data is or isn't missing." Indeed, if I have no idea what data may or may not be missing because the tracks play as they should, I'd argue it is unimportant.

Happy you managed to find another torrent. Glad you have found one that meets the oh so important criteria of matching up with rips from two specific Windows programs. I managed to find a fair few, including a very nice discography that included some demo tracks and vinyl rips, but none could pick up any seeders hence buying the CD and ripping it myself in the end.

avatarExactly @miok, thank you.

I also read more into the software Cue Tools uses for its "verification." It's a third party tool called AccurateRip that compares hashes of the rips you give it to hashes in its database.

Now this is the important bit. According to Hydrogen Audio: "All of the data is submitted by the Windows-based ripping programs dBpoweramp and Exact Audio Copy via a DLL licensed from Illustrate. Other rippers and tools, such as CUETools and Mac OS-based rippers, can receive info from the database in order to look up drive offsets or check rip quality, but they cannot submit their own rip results to it."

Exact Audio Copy is the most popular software used to rip CD's to FLAC. It uses an outdated version of the libFLAC encoder from 2014 to do this. I use the latest build of libFLAC from 2019 on my Linux system.

It occurs to me that if all the samples come from Windows computers, most of which use an outdated FLAC encoder, the fact no sample matches is probably due to me using Linux software relying on the latest build of libFLAC to encode my rips. Linux software is not allowed to upload to that database, only those two Windows programs are, so it's not exactly surprising you are not getting matches for some tracks when I'm using a newer encoder on a different OS. I expect a few bits and bytes vary ever so slightly when I'm using a different (i.e. newer and better) encoder.

In any case, there you have it, the album plays back perfectly for me, perfectly for an admin, and perfectly for anyone else who downloads this torrent I'm sure.

This is, to my knowledge, the only seeded torrent of this album in lossless format on any public tracker. If you don't like it because Cue Tools says it's bad and wrong because I don't use EAC, just buy the CD and rip it using whatever you like until Cue Tools tells you it's 100% perfect. It'll sound exactly the same as this torrent, but hey, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing the data is identical to other rips from two specific Windows programs and that's what really matters... right? ;)

avatarCan't use that software since it's Windows only, and running it under WINE is a pain since it requires the .NET framework. I'm not jumping through hoops for that when I can listen to the tracks myself right now on software I already have and hear that they playback without any file corruption or loss of audio compared to the original album even through a pretty decent PMP with a good DAC.

That software states on the link you posted it'll fail a rip for missing "vital information" such as "disc pre-gap information" which, for those who might be reading this unaware of what that means, is literally two seconds of silence that's typically included before each track in CD's. If you're of the mind this is important feel free to either find another lossless torrent of this album (good luck on public trackers...) or buy the CD and rip it to your own specifications.

Personally as long as the audio plays back correctly I don't care if my rips are flunked by a bit of software because one byte of pre-gap information is off or something equally inconsequential. I care about what my ears can hear not what a piece of software tells me about the 1's and 0's.

avatarI have to agree with XannyFamily on this. Though I'm not an Eminem fan, I've listened to this upload in it's entirety and it played flawlessly.
Anyone who isn't satisfied with a perfectly good lossless rip of this CD should just go buy it and stop harassing uploaders who are working hard to provide it to them free of charge.

avatarIf you can actually point those errors out to me I'll take this seriously. So far any "error" pointed out was confirmed to be false.

I am using a brand new drive for both BR and CD rips and both come out 100% fine. I watch/listen to the content myself so I know there is nothing wrong with it.

avatarThe OP is correct, most of your uploads have ripping errors. That is why they are not accurate. If this happens often, then there may be a problem with your cd drive, or your discs are too dirty or scratched for the laser to read properly. You can check the accuracy of cd rips for yourself, using cuetools. http://cue.tools/wiki/Main_Page

avatarYou might want to check how you are ripping these CD's as a lot of your uploads have inaccurate tracks. This album: track's 01,06,20 not accurate.

avatarYou again Guest-2206 :facepalm
Please do a little research before continuously complaining.
According to Discogs, all tracks on this release are accurate and in the correct order.

avatarYou don't have to believe anyone, when you can simply check for yourself. Using cuetools select the album folder that you want to check from the input tab. select the action "verify", press Go, cuetools calculates the CRC value for each track and compares them with the CRC value from other rips of the same album, that have been submitted to the cuetools & accurip databases. If any of the results match yours then you have exactly the same data as each other. If 2 or more results match yours, you can be very confident that your rip is accurate. For example this album: Tracks 01,06,20 have ( 0/1139) matches, but all the other tracks have over (1100/1139) matches.

avatarThank you @miok.

If he didn't have -100 rep points I may think he is being genuine and simply confusing the Relapse album for the Refill version.

But it seems he is merely a troll :)

avatarSo there's a lack of support for mac and linux along with licencing issues, hardly breaking news. You can take the same file and encode it as WAV FLAC or ape and the results from cuetools are exactly the same. The encoder or version isn't the issue, the original data is the issue. If your uploads had log files then you might have a valid point to make here, but they don't, and you have no real idea what data is or isn't missing. If they play fine then that's great, but mp3 files play fine too. I didn't want to start an argument here, just pointing out the facts. P.S. I downloaded an accurate (public tracker) flac version of this album straight after yours, not exactly hard to find.
