| thank you LarMer for your uploading. as per the link posted on one of Pawpcorn's torrents, these tragedies are exacerbated by groupthink and the media's incessant promulgation of sensationalism, which given the climate is all too easy to do. given the constant alarmism of the media and the hoard in general this is a behavioral theme. american's are armed to the teeth so cops operate under the presumption that any struggle with anyone could lead to firearms being discharge, hence the cops are trigger happy on top of unduly aggressive as protest videos suggest. here they did frisk him so they knew he was unarmed. still, in tense situations they operate with a fight-fight response, their training is to fire to kill or subdue often leading to death to those who resist. in "previous" news cycles before the recent uproar, perhaps this man would have just been arrested. even that is generous though since he was ostensibly trying to avoid arrest since he was on probation. he was either driving under the influence or had an open container and would have just been charged with a dui and public intoxication. being in violation of his parole he would go back to jail. he didn't want this so he resisted rightful arrest, assaulted a police officer, and attempted to murder a police office. the officer experiencing this, as trained responded with deadly force, probably without thinking. so this seems to be one of the rare instances of joe biden actually being right about something. shots in the legs would have stopped him immediately, then arrest him and have an emt called, then jail for much longer than if he had not resisted arrest like that. end of story. he was being an idiot for violating parole, and even more of an idiot for resisting arrest and assault/attempted murder of a police officer (making much worse charges for himself than dui and public intoxication surviving the encounter). basically he behaved extremely unwisely, yet if the cops shot him in the legs, he would have lived. unfortunately that isn't how they are trained. letting him go, as trevor noah and others have suggested is infeasible, he clearly was driving under the influence which anyone is arrested for. letting him get away raises the stakes, and he could get armed. he was on probation, his antics were extremely careless and dumb without probation, however with probation it is just plain mind-numbingly ill-advised. being drunk isn't an excuse. |
