The music is the secret of Mathieu Malinski, a subject about which he dare not speak in its suburb where it lagging behind with his friends. While a small burglaries that he made with the latter leads to the doors of the prison, Pierre Geitner, Director of the National Conservatory of Music in fate in exchange for hours of general interest. But Pierre has a any other idea in mind.



Mathieu Malinski è un ragazzo delle banlieue che vive di espedienti e custodisce un segreto che Pierre Geithner, direttore del Conservatorio di Parigi, vuole rivelare al mondo. Dopo averlo sentito suonare Bach al pianoforte nella hall della Gare de Lyon, Pierre non ha dubbi sul suo talento ma Mathieu fa resistenza e si mette nei guai coi compagni di sempre. Arrestato per furto, chiede aiuto a Pierre che fa commutare la detenzione in una misura alternativa da scontare in Conservatorio. Attirato nel tempio della musica e invaghitosi di Anna, violoncellista virtuosa, Mathieu accarezza progressivamente l'idea di diventare pianista e di partecipare a un prestigioso concorso. La vita però sembra accanirsi e remare contro.
