Like the topic title says... If a smiley face BBcode happens to be included within a URL address... the URL address is altered automatically by the TGx site software, and then becomes unusable.

If it's any consolation,  this has been a problem on other forums/sites aswell.

but the final (without the spaces)  8 o   gets converted to this: 8o and thus... the link fails.

Only workaround I know (once I'm lucky enough to have discovered my link within the forum topic has failed)
is to have to convert the address using tiny.cc to a tiny url.

...where you'll note the second youtube link uses the tiny.cc conversion of "tiny.cc/hjl7qz"  to overcome this issue:
