| i moved on to linux from windows 4 years ago, and never looked back since. i especially liked the freedom, stability, security, privacy and peace of mind associated with linux. i'm free to choose my linux distribution, set up desktop environment i like, no worries of viruses and malware, download and update tried and tested applications from software repositories, good open source free application alternatives to paid windows ones, and a rock solid stable OS for desktop and laptops. however gaming is one area where it needs improvement. for the occasional gamer like me, there are options to play good open source and free linux games or play windows games through wine, playonlinux or steam. gaming support for linux has also improved in recent times as compared to 5 or 10 years ago. now most of the latest game releases are supported in linux. this is my experience with linux, feel free to share yours. | |

| I use both and have since 2013, but all my uploading and download is done using a Ubuntu laptop I am updating from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) at this moment. I decide not to go for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) as the laptop is old | |

| Bionic Beaver is the Ubuntu codename for version 18.04 of the Ubuntu Linux-based operating system. Officially released on April 26th, 2018, Bionic Beaver follows the Artful Aardvark (v17.10) release and serves as a Long Term Support (LTS) release for Ubuntu, which will be supported for five years as opposed to nine months for non-LTS editions. As a result, the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver release will be supported through April 2023. What's New in Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver? Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver offers several significant improvements and additions for the Linux server OS, including OpenStack Queens support, Canonical's LXD 3.0 container hypervisor, Linux Kernel 4.15, GNOME 3.28 default desktop, and Kubernetes for process-container coordination, management and scalability. Bionic Beaver also features a variety of performance optimizations, including boot-time optimizations, particularly for cloud operations. source:webopedia | |

| Bringing you up to date, my update Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) did not go completely to plan a crashed in the middle, but did manage to recover terminal and using "sudo apt-get update -f" did bring success in the end, fully updated to Xenial Xerus and another 2 years of LTS cover. :) 18.04 Bionic Beaver graphic were unlikely to be supported by the machine. BTW the machine was an Asus Eee PC 904 only 11 years old :D | |

| Linux tip for today- Finding the Right Command A fresh terminal is an endless sea of possibilities. You can do so much with it, which is exactly why it’s so terrifying. With so many commands available at the tips of your fingers, how on Earth are you supposed to know which ones to use in a given situation? The good news: you don’t have to memorize anything. Using the apropos command, you can quickly figure out which commands lead to the actions you want to perform. apropos "description" By typing the above, you’ll get a list of all commands that match the “description” string with said command’s help string. So if I were to type: apropos "list directory" This results in all of the commands that have “list directory” included in the help string. For my system, that means the dir, ls, ntfsls, and vdir commands. | |

| There are a couple options... one would be to just wipe Windows 10 and install whatever Linux Distro you choose... Option 2 would be to keep Windows 10, create a disk partition and install Linux on that and have a dual boot system where you can either boot into Windows or Linux, but that option is a bit more involved in terms of configuring things.. | |

| also... Back up your data first if you wipe Windows... also you will need to re-upload any torrents you may have, seeing the file path will be broken, unless you have a seedbox. | |
