Ok so I've just started watching Netflix's new series Ripley. It's actually started off like it could be a good but, they've shot it in  black and white! I get trying to set the era but feels like I'm watching a 1920s film very well upscaled. they should of just released it in color and b/w give us the option 🙄🏴‍☠️😂

seasons 1, 2 and 3

  In 2015 i saw season 1 and really liked it.
I was glad to find out recently they had made 2 more seasons which i just watched.

Season 2 and 3 were not as good but i had to know how they were going to resolve a few plot issues.
Only to find out that there was supposed to be a season 4 but the series got cancelled so nothing got resolved. The series ended without any conclusions.

A Gentleman in Russia - really enjoying...the lavish sets, the food and drink, the protagonist and historical context...it all really works for me.

Sugar - enjoying the interesting character and texture...each episode seems very rich, even if only 30 minutes.

Fallout - binged the whole thing in one go...big fan of the games...although the attention to detail was superb and it didn't do anything horribly wrong, I *did* enjoy it...hmmmmm, it still didn't totally get me...I think the story...it seems as if the crazy fallout dial was set to 6...and I wanted it set to 11. I understand that it needed to be accessible to non-gamers...I get it...I just wanted more.

Star Trek: Discovery - I watch it for the SciFi fix...but I've struggled with this show for a few seasons...I'll delete episodes part way in and may have even skipped the season finales.  spoiler
American Horror Story - the first five episodes were  spoiler
...then it breaks for 6(?) months...the story is picking up now, and it does seem interesting enough...but it seems like there are twice as many episodes as needed.

Constellation/3-Body Problem/Immaculate/Baghead/Dune Part 2 - enjoyed them all...

Rebel Moon Part 2 - Really enjoyed both of these films...the mix of ultra-tech and steam punk...the different cultures that seemed ripe for story-telling in whatever direction the camera pointed. I also have a bit of a thing for ladies with short hair, so...

Late Night with the Devil - Different, fun...interesting little film. Fun trivia - the James Randi character...in real life there are many rumours that he never had any intention of paying the million, even for situations that he legitimately should have...in essence, just another fraud.

I watched the anime movie Spy Family: Code White in theaters today. The city's theaters rarely get anime movies, so I like to support those theaters when it happens. The movie was great, and I ate way too much popcorn.

Just watched the season finale of American Horror Story...interesting themes, but very rushed...the episode was only 30 minutes and all the interesting stuff for the season was squeezed in to the final 3 episodes...with the first 5 episodes of the season being mostly superfluous.

Just finished "Them" S02 - found it pretty compelling...a mild level of tension and claustrophobia throughout the entire thing due to the various plot threads...acting was great...production was great. Decent watch.

Dead Boy Detectives - Only made it through the first two episodes...and that was a struggle. One of the detectives was amazingly obnoxious and really didn't strike the right chords for me...there was a thin phoniness to all the characters and behaviours really...and there was grating "spooky" plinky-plonky music that seemed to be constantly playing, to remind you just how "zany" and "weird" it all was...which it wasn't.
