When we think back to life before the pandemic, many of us will remember such ancient cultural artefacts as the Billie Eilish Bond theme for Daniel Craig’s fifth outing as 007. The film itself was, of course, shunted back and back as the world shuddered to a standstill. It still hasn’t come out – which means we’ve had lots of time to look forward to Waller-Bridge's contribution to the script.
Waller-Bridge has denied she was brought on board in order to re-orient Bond for the post-#MeToo era. She insisted that a 21st century Bond needed to be “true to his character” and that it was the movie around him that had to evolve. “The important thing is that the film treats the women properly,” she said.
It is unclear how much she has been paid to “add spice” to the screenplay. However, in view of No Time To Die’s $250 million (£180 million) budget, we must assume that her accountant has been left shaken and stirred by the arrangement.'
