 | Thanks for this great rip of an outstanding film. I can highly recommend this decidedly anti-war masterpiece as an inspired remake of the 1964 original effort. Malick is one of the US's most accomplished and intelligent story tellers (Harvard philosophy grad and Rhodes Scholar) Here he directs an A list cast in his own screenplay of James Jones brilliant autobiographical novel (Jones also penned From Here to Eternity and the unfinished Whistle as a WWII trilogy). Thin Red Line is widely considered THE great American war novel from WWII. The cast includes Penn, Cusack, Harrelson, Clooney, Nolte, Travolta and John C Reilly amongst others. An almost 3 hr emotional roller coaster that does not let up and should not be missed. |
