Radio Bremen started the show in 1965 that was meant to be broadcasted only in Germany, and at the latter date, in Austria. The contracts with the artists were made to cover the broadcast and the re-runs on some local stations and that was it. The shows were recorded, but due to the nature of the old video tapes, a lot of the material was destroyed in the years. When the interest grew in the nineties, mainly for the inclusion on German satellite channels, N3 and ARD started separate hunts for the surviving tapes in Germany and Austria and their satellite versions of Beat-Club differs in material. At that time I contacted Radio Bremen and asked for the possibility to license Beat-Club programs for the broadcast in Serbia, since I was the official on Serbian TV. They explained to me that they didn't have any rights for the distribution outside Germany and Austria and that they would have to ask the permission from the representatives of the artists. At that time they had only about 10 hours of cleared rights and that was included in the old 10 DVD set that is still available separately.
That would explain why new Beat-Club box sets were available only on German Amazon and not in UK or America.
