You can load any hdr movie into Microsoft Movies & TV app (player), and it's shown in SDR |
since when... its always played in proper hdr when playing videos on my xbox. |
HDR wasn't working until I remuxed to mp4 with FFMPEG. So it works, but... PITA. |
this isn't really 4k (2160p) though right? resolution is 3840x1600 |
That's due to the aspect ratio, it's not quite exactly 16:9 so the difference is due to the black bars on top/bottom. This is true for any movie that's not exactly 16:9. |
From Wikipedia: > The term "4K" is generic and refers to any resolution with a horizontal pixel count of approximately 4,000. 2160p refers to the vertical pixel count. So technically, you could have a movie that is 3840 wide and 1 pixel high and still call it 4K. |
