Thank you GalaxyRG 😘😘😘. A/V is the usual top-level we always get from you. I've had this on in the background whilst working this morning. The movie is a serious piece of coming-of-age drama, set in an isolated rural Christian community in Kentucky. Like the description mentions, this is a “strict” Christian community, and a young, intelligent woman growing up in modern society – the Starling girl – of the title begins to clash with those strictures. Enter the handsome, young, married pastor… and it’s all rather predictable from there really. But the performances from Eliza Scanlan and Lewis Pullman are excellent, and the narrative in the hands of director Laurel Pamet is tense and moving. I enjoyed this one, and would recommend it for anyone thinking of a night in with the company, snacks & beverages of their choice I'll be watching again with my wife tomorrow night. Thanks again GalaxyRG Very much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️ |
Are you sure the audio was okay, LL? Lately, many of the Galaxy audios have been seriously lacking in volume! And I have been loading them into my Movavi software to boost said audio significantly before playing them in my home theater. Video has still be top notch, 10/10! |
I had no problem GT... but my audio is highly subjective. In my office audio plays from a stupidly over-specced Mac through Boom 3D equalizer software, into a rather nice set of Bose surround speakers. If I'm watching on my own, I just turn the sound up and adjust as I like. So I may not be a fair judge |
Thanks for an actual review, much appreciated LL! |
Question @GuitarTroy; and I am truly curious...how do you resolve that you lead praise and worship in a Christian setting yet participate in media piracy? |
And Jesus did saith 'Your fruits shall bare seeds and ye shall share them wildly' |
When did Christians ever loved their neighbour? Did not onto others what they didn't others want to do onto themselves? None of them are stranger to hypocrisy. |
I love 80s metal and back in the day i even liked cradle of filth. I think good music can be anything. I do not really listen to christian rock but Skillet was pretty good back in the day.... |
Plot: 17-year-old Jem Starling struggles with her place within her Christian fundamentalist community. But everything changes when her magnetic youth pastor Owen returns to their church. Just no. |
I usually Hard Pass on religious themed movies but for this one I will make an exception. 91 % Fresh Tomato. 3 1/2 stars out of 4 stars on Roger Ebert. |
Watched this not because you are , or (91 % Fresh Tomato. 3 1/2 stars out of 4 stars on Roger Ebert) i watched this because Lewis Pullman & Eliza Scanlen make this worth a watch they can act |
I for one don't care if your going to make an exception i agree with Guest-1162 it was a good watch |
I know what what you're saying jaxe about religious themed movies. Almost all have the same message. Gonna watch this one tonight tho as it seems to be worthy of giving it a chance! |
ì know why this has a 'high score'. it portrays a functional christian society as disfuctional and claustrofobic and it gloryfies an married adult messing around with a minor (punishable by law) and when they finally take of leave the story open as if evrything is gonna be 'better' from that point (no i'm religious) |
You may consider yourself not religious, but you're still raised with a religious determined set of morals. Good saying they're good or wrong, just saying. |
