Textbook in PDF format
Written in an engaging style, places Quantum Mechanics in a broader physics context.
Each chapter provides a set of exercises, questions, a problem and solutions.
From the preface
This book is a revised and extended version of the introductory lectures on quantum mechanics that I delivered for many years at the Ecole Polytechnique (Paris). It is not a textbook, simply an account of my lectures. I have modified the content of this book by one main addition: Chap. 8 on the photon. Quantum mechanics starts with the demonstration of the wave behavior of particles. However, the first quantum being that was found is the photon and the proof of its particle nature took a long time. This topic is not found often since a complete account of the physics of photons, zero mass particles, involves relativistic quantum field theory.
