. '69 was a great year in Hyde Park - I think this was the first one I attended (brain cells are not what they were on the memory front!). Reviews of Blind Faith were a bit mixed; some seem to have been waiting for a never-ending Clapton solo. I thought they were damned good as our first "supergroup". . Other highlights of the day were Richie Havens - I went out and bought his album on the Monday. Then there were The Edgar Broughton Band who had everything turned up to 11. They really were the loudest and hairiest band most of us had ever seen. Saw the many times in smaller venues and I partly blame them for my tinnitus . I believe that there is a DVD of this day somewhere. . |
