Paradise of Lead Trilogy 1-3 by MacKenzie Morris
Summary
his set contains all three books of the Paradise of Lead Trilogy: M.A.G.E., T.I.M.E., and W.A.N.D.
Before the bombs dropped, most of humanity was sheltered behind the lead walls of Paradise, a city built from the remnants of ransacked Las Vegas, and two other walled cities in the new country of the Unified State. From this safe haven of Paradise, scientific research was able to produce new technologies at an astonishing rate, resulting in genetically altered experiments with unique powers. When those human experiments proved to be more of a threat than the radiation and pollution of the wasteland, they were rounded up and exiled from the prosperity of Paradise. Using any excuse to lock them away in high security prisons, the Inquisition cracks down on those rogue experiments so they are unable to reproduce and spread their mutated genes to any offspring. As the scourge of the world after being forced into the experiments in the first place, the Material Altering Genetic Experiments (M.A.G.E.s) have to fight and scrape by on whatever they can get in the forbidding and dangerous wasteland. These are some of their stories of survival, discovery, and adventure.
Book One, M.A.G.E.: In the post-apocalyptic West, Byron, Damien, Blice, and Isidore escape from a high security prison. As M.A.G.E.s, they are running from the Inquisition whose purpose is to find and control failed genetic experiments. Their powers set them apart from the other citizens of the wasteland who are not welcome inside the lead walls of Paradise, the capital of the Unified State. The lead prevents any M.A.G.E.s from using their abilities to breach the walls and join the privileged and wealthy of the world. With another global war brewing and the Inquisition on their trail, will they be able to escape and find a life in the wasteland and discover the secrets of the Inquisition?
Book Two, T.I.M.E.: Isidore has joined Blice in Paradise as an inquisitor after finding out that he is Blice's personal computer. When the space station is attacked from a mysterious Inquisitor Dark, everything Isidore believed about who he is falls apart. Faced with the truth about being the only successful android, he must redefine how he lives, decide who he loves, and discover if he can even know emotions outside of his programming. A member of the organization he fought so hard to defeat, Isidore has been labeled a traitor by the only friends he has ever known.
Byron and Damien work together to end the crisis between the walled city of Paradise and the wasteland rebel base of Rubble City. Byron faces a personal foe that his normal brute force cannot defeat. Damien and his partner Seth relive their memory of Styx, where Damien shot and paralyzed Seth all to be a hero.
With attacks from Common Ground soldiers and a string of mysterious murders, everyone is a suspect as diplomatic stability crumbles. With a change in command for the Unified State, can the new president mend international relations or will humanity face another nuclear war?
Book Three, W.A.N.D.: Charged with the murders that have been occurring around Paradise, Isidore is put on trial in the harshest court on the planet. He must fight for his life, his freedom, and his newborn daughter. Can he and Blice convince the jury that even androids can feel emotions?
With the political tensions growing, Isidore faces his own person battle with his wife as their marriage begins to fall apart and her loyalty is questioned. Byron uncovers some of Damien's darkest secrets.
After Eden is attacked and two million citizens are mercilessly killed by nanobots, Blice faces the ultimate dilemma. Does he ignore the attack from Common Ground and risk riots and uprisings or does he activate W.A.N.D.
