Canadian pianist Stewart Goodyear attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and earned his bachelor's degree at the Curtis Institute of Music and his master's degree at the Juilliard School of Music. He has performed with many leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and many others around the world. As a composer, Goodyear has written and performed several works, including his suite for piano and orchestra, Callaloo, which he played with Kristjan Järvi and the MDR Symphony Orchestra, and his Piano Quintet, which was commissioned by the Kingston Chamber Music Festival. Yet Goodyear is perhaps better known for his feat of performing all of Beethoven's 32 Piano Sonatas in one day. His recordings of the cycle were released on Marquis Classics, and he has also recorded music of Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Rachmaninov for Steinway & Sons.
