What's the actual source of this? I know it says 'blu ray remux', but AFAIK there was never a 4K release of this film. The best I'm aware of is a 16mbps @1080 blu-ray. Is this from streaming somewhere? Or is it a fan upscale. |
I am the below anon, and this appears to be an upscaled and denoised rip. After writing that comment, I went out and bought the physical blu ray for this title. In addition to being larger by a few gigabytes, the source is definitely standard 1080p video, not 4K like in this rip. The compression artifacting and denoising is obvious in certain scenes, and can degrade the experience. However, the filter they ran it through does actually make it look subjectively better in some respects than the faithful but noisy/grainy source material. After writing the below comment, I did note the title correctly says 'BDRip' (which I missed like a fool) even though the description in the txt file says 'blu ray remux', which is definitely incorrect. It also confused me that nowhere did it mention that this was upscaled. Overall though, I'd say this is a good quality rip, and that the diff between the source is mostly a matter of preference. I personally will use my disc that I received when I rewatch with my friend on saturday, but this is probably the best quality rip of the film available on pubs (at least that I can see). Happy watching to all. |
