My notes
Each adaptation of a Shakespeare play relies on the inventiveness of thedirector and the talents of the actor as well as all the creative team involved. In this Globe production some of the minor characters like the Prince of Morocco and Lancelot Gobbo steal the show.
In other Merchant shows I have in my archive, Trevor Nunn's production takes place in pre- Nazi Germany which gives another feel for the play. Listen for the 1930's music cue as the play progresses in that production.
For the Royal Shakespeare Company and directed by Polly Findlay, Makram J. Khoury plays Shylock. Khoury is an Israeli and I've included his interview in that recode which you can find.
[See the NFO for more information on The Trevor Nunn and RSC. I will add those to the current index since I recoded the original DVDs.]
I will point all my bandwidth and seedbox help at this until the initial seed completes.
And this note: IMDb listing for the person Jonathan Pryce does not show his performance in this
play. Perhaps someone knows how to do that.
