Summary

Live performance of Shakespeare's comedy recorded at the reconstructed
Globe Theatre in London. The story follows two sets of twins, masters and
servants, who get separated in a shipwreck. They land themselves and everyone else in chaos and confusion through cases of mistaken identity which get increasingly worse.

My notes

  Here is another in the series of the Globe Theatre productions captured to live video.  Please see my other recodes of what is now a large group of these  productions with I hope more to come.  

  It's continually delightful to see the space of the globe transformed and used
through clever design.  That is revealed later in the production.  As
Shakespearean comedy this Comedy of Errors is very broad with many sight gags and
comedic takes.  A dumb-show opens the play before the action builds throughout.

Here is a note on another Comedy Of Errors for those interested:

  A rare production from New York City television has been saved via a screen
capture and posted to torrents.  It can be found as Comedy of Errors (1987) Live
at Lincoln Center.  A torrent indexer such as Bit Che
from Convivea by Chip Warner can find that original.  It is unique in that the New
York City production from Lincoln Center for WNET is performed by an acrobatic
troupe, The Flying Karamazov Brothers, and shot with eight cameras long before
these live-on stage videos were available.  It is miraculous that it has survived
over the years since the 1980's. If the original is at WNET it would be a huge
addition to live theatre performance on video.  Perhaps someone will be able to
find the archive.

 At some point I will add my torrent of that WNET production.  Meantime, it is
worth seeking out.

   As always these Globe productions should be added to school and public
libraries for all to enjoy.
