| Hi all. I just joined recently and though I should post an intro here. I'm from the northwest US. I'm into nerdy stuff like computers & technology, and I also enjoy movies & TV shows, video gaming (mostly on PC, but sometimes consoles too), music (I enjoy playing guitar and synthesizer/piano), photography, etc. For work, I am a software engineer. One of the things I do for a hobby is running an old-school bulletin board service (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletin_board_system). Those of you old enough to have used them probably remember what they are; they were small online services that were popular in the 80s and 90s before the internet became popular. People usually set them up and ran them from their home as a hobby, and users would dial into them with their computer using a modem over a phone line. There are still some people who run bulletin boards (myself included) that are available on the internet (the old-style text based user interface can be accessed via telnet). Also, for those who are wondering, my avatar is a flying toaster from the After Dark screen saver package that was popular on Mac and PCs in the late 80s-90s (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_Dark_(software)). Recently (a few months ago), I started using some Topaz Labs photography/video editing tools such as Gigapixel and Video Enhance AI, which use AI to enlarge/upscale photos & videos in a way that makes them more clear & sharp than they would be with traditional photo/video editing software. Aside from using it for my own personal stuff, I've been upscaling some movies & TV shows to 4K (mostly Star Trek stuff so far, since I'm a Star Trek fan).
