Preferred formatting for text files (info, file list, description, etc.)

I have been reading through the various guides, but they all seem to omit the specifics of how info files, file lists, torrent descriptions, etc. should be formatted. If there is a standard, I would really appreciate a reference. I have been denied upload status here on TG, but I would like to start off on the right foot in the event that changes.

For the torrent I am currently putting together, I have these files:

Quote:

2021-09-27  11:11           146,930 nexus_charsheet.pdf
2021-09-27  11:21             2,549 Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).info
2021-09-27  11:33       193,505,069 Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).pdf
2021-09-27  11:51           454,206 Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994)_thumbnail.jpg
2021-09-27  11:21             2,549 readme.txt
2021-09-07  12:33           105,088 Savage_Nexus.pdf
2021-09-27  13:30               631 trackers.txt
2021-09-27  11:53               585 [TGx]Downloaded from torrentgalaxy.to .txt
              8 File(s)    194,217,607 bytes
P.S. I can't seem to figure out how to format text as monospace. I have tried "code" and "pre", but neither of them work.

[code]This is a test of "code".[/code]

[pre]This is a test of "pre".[/pre]

P.P.S. I suppose I'll have to remove the "downloaded from torrentgalaxy" file, until I can actually upload things here.

What is the actual torrent?
Why a tracker file?
Why 3 PDF files?

A read me, downloaded from and info file I understand.. But those other (4) are kinda unnecessary.... Don't you think?
Unless they are part of the actual file you want to share..
But do correct me if I'm wrong...

Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).pdf is the core game book.
nexus_charsheet.pdf is a form-fillable blank character sheet.
Savage_Nexus.pdf is a brief explanation for adapting Nexus to the Savage Worlds game system.

Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).info and readme.txt are currently the exact same file. I originally created readme.txt, but the torrent instructions I found in the FAQ said to have an "info" file, so I copied it to Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).info.

Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994)_thumbnail.jpg is the cover image of the core rulebook PDF.

trackers.txt is the list of 15 trackers recommended by the FAQ on this site. I mainly put them in this text file for my own reference.

My real question is how Nexus_The_Infinite_City_(1994).info should be formatted. Here is what it says now...

Quote:

Title: Nexus the Infinite City
Publisher: Daedalus Entertainment
Authors: Bruce Baugh, Ian Brennan, Jose Garcia, Rob Heinsoo, Doug Hulick, Steve Kies, Robin D. Laws, Tim Toner
Book Type: Core Rules
Genre: Multigenre

Nexus: the Infinite City is a role-playing game designed by Jose Garcia and published by Daedalus Games. Its setting is a meta-city made up of reality chunks of various realities of the megaverse.

SETTING

Nexus: The Infinite City takes place in a city called Nexus. Player characters can fill many roles within the city, from violent enforcers to capitalistic thirds. The city itself is made of chunks of other cities from many worlds and dimensions. Some are cut off entirely from their home reality, while others have only a few connections to Nexus. Interfaces connect the different realities of Nexus, and frequently phase in and out. As a result, many Nexans have irregular and erratic lives.

The primary core of Nexus play is Angel City, a Los Angeles separated from Earth in 1993 and wholly subsumed into Nexus. Shortly after its incorporation, the Los Angeles government collapsed. Los Angeles was then renamed Angel City, and has since been carved up between numerous factions and powers within Nexus.

Each reality follows its own natural laws of physics. Some technology works in certain realities, and magic is particular to some realities as well.

SYSTEM

Nexus' system is the precursor to Feng Shui, a game later written by Robin Laws. Character attributes are split between three categories: Body, Mind, and Reflexes. Skills add to a character's capability in a category. Powers are broadly defined and allow for characters to have diverse power styles; the game includes three such systems, Nexan Sorcery, Rhyming Magic, and Psychic Powers. A list of modifiers and sample spells allows players to create more powers and frameworks.

Rolling challenges in the game requires 2D6. Like Feng Shui, one die gives a positive number and the other a negative. The final number - a combination of the character's level in a skill or power and the 2D6 roll - is compared to a target number to determine success or failure.

ABOUT THIS PDF

I spent a couple of weeks working on a OCR of this, so that the text would be searchable, but after doing the math on that (and how little I had accomplished), I decided that was not how I wanted to spend my time. So this is just a scan of the book without any text. I did add bookmarks for the chapters and major sections, though. Enjoy.

Ok I get it.

You can format it as a txt or nfo file.
But from what I can see it's basically the same as the description you would use for the torrent page.
Only thing is that those kind of files are often not downloaded cos most dl clients have the option to select which files you want to download.
You could name it "game description" if you wanted to add it.

I guess am not being clear about what I am asking.

So I have the *.nfo file.

Is there a standard format for that file for the title, author, etc., and for the file list?

Or is there no standard, as long as it's all in English and easy to understand?

To keep it easy and short, let me try to explain....

1. .Nfo not required where you're uploading books/pdf, .nfo is a part of torrenting but it remains optional, as far I know scene groups and releaser groups supposed to use it where they can add further inputs to promote their groups and names, by adding random charters/letters, it's like encode of .txt, it's true it was also known for Applications install Instructions, but sadly, 45% of users toughly figured it out that .nfo can be opened via notepad which is .txt to read instructions, (though, there might be several reasons behind using .nfo) so, it is optional whether you use .txt or use .nfo if there is anything to add for further but books/pdf doesn't require any instructions besides a proper description on the hook.

2. Thumbnail, there are also optional, where you already added it under description, so, why keeping it under torrent file.

3.  Trackers list, why would anyone do that? Well, someone does it if they have a backup tracker (that's another story)

4. Yes, plain text we require, if you're still willing to modify .nfo? Then google search, there are many editors to customize them.

So, bottom line is, put main files only, PDF1, PDF2, PDF3, and add .txt if you really wanted to add description among folder.

Okay, thanks. That was very helpful. I have downloaded a lot of torrents, but I honestly have never really paid attention to anything other than the files I wanted.
